Directing

As a director, my work focuses on creating and strengthening community through theatre. As such, it often requires me to wear multiple hats simultaneously—adaptor, facilitator, writer, teacher. I have created original work with many different kinds of struggling communities, from hospice patients to federal prisoners. As a director of traditional dramatic texts, my favorite works are lyric in style. Often, language itself is a subject of the work.

Acting

Although in recent years my focus has been on writing and directing, I have been acting longer than I have been doing anything else—for nearly three decades. I received my actor training at the Chicago Academy for the Arts and the Piven Theatre Workshop, as well as in summer intensive workshops at Yale and Circle in the Square.
